If you're loooking for crowd pleasing appetizers for holiday parties and family gatherings, these sausage balls are absolutely incredible! They are the best little finger food recipe served with mini skewers. Perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, or anytime of the year you want a yummy snack to eat. You can make them ahead of time, refrigerate, and then pop them in the oven when you're ready to serve.
In a medium sauce pan, bring one cup of water to a boil and then add the contents of the stuffing. Mix well, remove from heat, and set aside to cool. The idea here is to have slightly moistened stuffing.
In a large bowl, mix the uncooked sausage with the stuffing and cheddar cheese until thoroughly combined.
Roll the mixture into small 1 inch bite-size balls. Pack them tightly so that they hold together when baked.
Place them in the fridge for least an hour or overnight until you're ready to bake and serve.
Place the chilled sausage balls onto a parchment lined baking sheet and bake in a 350° F oven for approximately 25 minutes or until cooked through.
Allow them to cool for a few minutes and serve! They keep well on the counter for hours. You could also serve with toothpicks to make them easier to grab and eat for your guests.
Notes
These are insanely delicious served alone, but you could also serve them with a cranberry dipping sauce.
The size of your sausage balls will make a big difference in how long they need to be baked to get the sausage cooked all the way through, so be sure to check for doneness. I usually just grab one, cut it in half, and eat it for quality assurance. :)
