Ingredients

  • 1 bottle Spanish red wine (or any dry red wine)
  • 1/3 cup brandy
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3 tbsp sugar (brown or white)
  • 1/2 orange (sliced into small pieces)
  • 1/2 apple (sliced into small pieces)

Instructions

  1. Cut your fruit (with the skin on) into small pieces and toss into a large pitcher.

  2. Next, add sugar and muddle the sugar and fruit together with a large wooden spoon (or anything that's good for muddling). Probably not your fist, though.

  3. Add orange juice and brandy, and muddle again for about 30 seconds. Feel free to drink brandy while you're doing this.

  4. Add the red wine and stir well. Do a taste test to see if it's sweetened to your liking. Add more sugar, brandy or orange juice if you wish.

  5. Pour over ice and garnish with fruit slices. I like a little bit of tang in mine so I sometimes also add lemons or limes. Drink up!
